The letter is in very good condition; neatly and tastefully mounted on quarto sheet of laid paper, within single ink rule. single twelvemo sheet (nine lines), on unlined paper:. American author Louisa J. Hall (1802-1892) was best known for her "verse-novel," 'Miriam: A Dramatic Poem,' first published in 1837, and widely reprinted. Her other works include 'Sheaves of Love,' (1861), 'Alfred' (1836), 'Joanna of Naples' (1838), 'A Dramatic Fragment,' etc. [see Blain. 'Feminist Companion to Literature in English,' p. 476].

"Your note found me writing to Mrs. Lee a glowing panegyric on the enthusiasm of Bermon's descendants in this place! Mrs. Loring leaves us at three this aft, and I trust you mean to send me an addition to my little packet. Please direct to Mrs. George G. Lee Mt. Vernon St., Truly yours, [signed] Louisa J. Hall."
