About This Item
Secretary of the Nebraska Territory (1858-61); secretary of agriculture (1893-97); originator of Arbor Day (1872). ALS, 1p, 8½" X 11", near Nebraska City, NB, 21 July 188[4?]. Addressed to A.J. Harding. Very good. Binding traces along left margin. Sends interest payment for a note on a Nebraska City lot. "Hoping... that your son is as bright and good as he seemed on slight and momentary inspection and believing he is to be a great pride and comfort to you and his good Mother...." Appropriately written on letterhead of Morton's "Arbor Lodge.
