Edited volume of essays published by the Societe des etudes Robespierristes on the bicentennial of the birth of Filippo Buonarroti and Francois-Noel Babeuf. The coconspirators were arrested by the French government on May 8, 1796 for inciting revolution. Contributors include notable French historians of workers' movements and the French Revolution, including Maurice Dommanget, Jean Dautry, Arthur Lehning, Jacques Godechot, and more. Includes four previously unpublished documents by Buonarroti with extensive commentary and critical apparatus by the editors. The Society of Robespierrian Research aims to publish all documents related to the French Revolution.
