A finely bound set, with leather (calf) spines and corners, spines with red labels denoting series title, gilt decorations and individual volume titles on spine, top edge gilt, marbled boards and endpapers, each volume with guarded frontispiece and additional illustrations on plates. Note that this set is heavy. It has been priced to include USPS Media Mail shipping within the continental U.S. for the normal shipping charge. Shipping to other locations or by other methods will cost more. ; 5-1/2" x 8"; Still an attractive set, though with flaws. Individual volume conditions vary from Good to VG+. Many volumes have minor defects, such as nicked corners, wear at spine tops, wear along edges of boards. Four volumes have waterstaining, seen faintly on the spine and page edges, limited within to the first and last few pages, no odor. One volume has two loose signatures. A few volumes show splIts to the leather at the hinges. Hinges remain solid, no ownership markings, pages clean and unmarked. Additional info and images available on request. .
