About This Item

New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company,, 1955. First edition, first printing, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, "Christmas Card with Morgan's love 1955". This title was printed for the friends of the author and his publishers as a New Year's greeting. It comprises the first chapter of Forster's biography of his aunt, Marianne Thornton: A Domestic Biography, published the following year. Small octavo. Original yellow and grey patterned paper boards, front cover lettered in white on grey ground. Spine toned and cocked with a touch of wear to ends, corners of rear cover gently bumped. A very good copy indeed, firm and internally clean. Not in Kirkpatrick or Borrello.
