About This Item
London: Collins; The Bodley Head; Macmillan , 1965-84. First edition. Cloth. Near Fine/Very Good Indeed. 8" by 5". None. Three first edition crime novels, in the original dust wrappers. The first edition for all with 'Aristotle Detective' being the first UK edition. Three volumes. In the publisher's original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrappers. This set features three crime thrillers. The set includes; 'The Berlin Memorandum' a suspenseful novel about Quiller, and his mission to eliminate Heinrich Zossen, 'Penny Black', a murder mystery following Penny who finds herself involved in murder when an old school friend disappears, 'Aristotle Detective', a mystery set in 332BD where an eminent citizen is murdered. Suspicion falls heavily on young Philemon, and, by Athenian law, his cousin Stephanos is elected to defend his name in court. In desperation, Stephanos seeks assistance from Aristotle, his former mentor - and Aristotle turns Detective. In the publisher's original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrappers. Externally excellent with only slight fading to the extremities of the spine and boards to 'Aristotle Detective' and externally lovely to 'Penny Black' and 'Berlin Memorandum'. The wraps are very smart with fading to the spines to 'Berlin Memorandum' and 'Aristotle Detective' with slight rubbing to the rear of the latter and a small closed tear to the tail of the spine to the former. Internally firmly bound with clean and bright pages to all but 'Penny Black' which is clean with age toning to the extremities. Near Fine
