From the Preface: "The following account of some of the depressed classes of Malwa was written in 1994 and presents only the conditions at that time. All photographs were taken by James Walton with a Box Brownie camera and all the drawings were made at the same time." Photographs and illustrations of each caste's implements and tools of his trade.
