Approximately 7,500 entries. Rosenblum : " A pioneering effort and still very useful for students of printing through the nineteenth century. Entries are arranged in a single alphabet and include material from the fifteenth century onward. Annotations accompany most items and often include biographical sketches of the authors. Also contains attractive and informative illustrations, such as portraits and printers' marks. Much information on important printers such as Caxton and Gutenberg. Still the most comprehensive bibliography on the subject. Engaved bookplate of Robert Elwell on front pastedown endpaper, minor marks to front board and front endpapers, otherwise Good.
