About This Item

Kraus Reprint Corporation, [New York], 1963 reprint of 1870-1871 edition. 2 vols, cloth, 4to,. iv, 446 + 554 pp. 1809 + 1810-4173 entries. This set comprises the 2 volumes of Part III, covering the 18th century books. . From the introduction: "For the 18th Century imprints, the important period of late colonial times and the American Revolution, the only chronological list of the John Carter Brown Library is still the Third Part of John Russell Bartlett's first catalogue, which we are now reprinting. The fifty copies originally printed have almost all disappeared and the Union Catalog at the Library of Congress indicates that less than five copies are located in American libraries. The present reprint edition was made from the copy in the New York Public Library. The handwritten annotations were made by the eminent bibliographer, Wilberforce Eames, one-time Lenox Librarian, who continued Sabin's bibliography. Covers slightly rubbed, slightly bumped at head and tail of spines, otherwise Very Good.
