1910. London, Duckworth & Co. [1910]. Small 4to.; publisher"s brown cloth lettered in black to upper cover and spine, with large onlaid pictorial plate to upper cover, top edges gilt; pp. [x] + 129 + [ii]; illustrated with 12 line drawings and 6 plates drawn by Rackham and coloured by the artist Harry Rountree; a very good, fresh copy with rubbing to spine ends, internally clean with some offset-tanning to endpapers, a couple of early inscriptions, (dated 1912 and 1955) to front free endpaper and a closed, and barely noticeable, tear (33mm) to lower margin of one text leaf; one of the most elusive of all Rackham titles. First edition. This story, complete with Rackham's artwork, first appeared in Little Folks magazine in 1900. With the artist's agreement the images were reproduced in book form with the addition of colour added by the renowned artist and illustrator Harry Rountree.
