London: Longmans, Green and Co., 1914. 1st Edition . Decorative Cloth. Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Blue cloth binding, with gilt ship (HMS Victory) decoration on the front cover, gilt anchor on the spine. Fairly tidy looking covers, Small faded spot on the front cover, and faded at the top of the rear spine edge, covers a bit rubbed, slight fading to the titling on the spine. The hinges are good- but overpulled in 2 places internally. Foxing to the frontispiece reverse and to the frontispiece tissue guard, toning to the pages, some browning to the front and rear endpapers, stub from a plate pasted down at the inner margin between text pages 160-161. Neat 1915 inscription on the endpaper. Contains 8 sheets of colour plates + black and white illustrations. Pages; XII, 307. Fairly tidy copy. Includes accounts of notable naval engagements and exploits etc; HMS Medusa, Edward Pellew, Trafalgar, John Franklin, Basil Hall. 1st edition.
