Topeka, KS: Crane & Co., printers and binders, 1896. Hardcover. 471, [1]pp., portrait frontispiece, illustrations, boards. 9 x 6.25 in. Bound in green cloth, gilt stamped cover and spine. Edges mildly scuffed and front cover stained. Published letters of a young artist, Arthur Peck, to his mother and younger brother. Peck left Ohio in 1891 to embark on a tour of Europe to study paintings and drawings and wrote frequently until his death of a mysterious illness in Paris in December 1892. The correspondence was edited by Peck's mother and features many of her interjections.
