About This Item
Utrecht: Joh. Enschede en Zonen for Stichting de Roos, 1947. First Edition. Near fine, a lovely copy of a beautiful book. 3/4 leather over marbelled boards. Appears unread, no signs of wear internally, free of all markings, vanishingly faint spotting to textblock edges. Binding is tight, sharp leather corners, tiny touch of wear to the gilt titling and mabelled boards. Designed by Jan van Krimpen and printed by, Joh. Enschede en Zonen for Stichting de Roos. Published in an edition of 175 copies. Signed by Jan Van Krimpen. This edition of the Psalms is one of the finest examples of both the typography of Jan van Krimpen, and his Romanee typeface (in which this book is entirely hand set), on a very lovely Barcham Green handmade paper. Wonderful book and very scarce. Century for the Century, No. 47.
