About This Item

London: Walter Scott, 1888. This is a Very Good copy of the First Edition Thus, part of Scott's series of "The Canterbury Poets," under the general editorship of William Sharp. This is the popular edition; Scott also published a more deluxe version that was limited. Green cloth binding (now faded to green on the spine) with a paper spine-label. Clean text; xxxv, 229 pages, with 12 pages of adverts in the rear. This is an ASSOCIATION COPY, bearing the bookplate on the front paste-down of Francis Russell Hart (1868-1938) American amateur antiquarian and author, and with the signature of his wife, Helen B(ronson) Hart, dated 1901, on the FFEP. Bumped and rubbed at the margins and the covers mottled by the sun. A cute little volume, with interesting associations. Size: 32mo - over 4" - 5" tall. First Edition.. Hard Cover. Very Good Plus/No Jacket.
