About This Item

The Detective Book Club produced volumes of three crime novels from 1942 to 1999. Originally monthly, near the end they dwindled down to just a few per year. Many famous detective and crime novelists had their early works featured in DBC editions. Often, books were published in DBC editions before, or at the same time as they were published in mass market form. A little about our authors:

Marian Babson: Babson had a writing career that ran from 1971 to 2012. She passed away in 2017. She wrote three short detective series, the longest being the seven edition Trixie and Evangeline series, but Babson also wrote 32 stand alone detective novels. Altogether Babson published 45 novels. This is the fifth Trixie and Evangeline novel.

Sister Carol O'Marie: Sr. Carol was a nun of the St. Joseph of Carondelet order. She wrote eleven novels, beginning at age 50, all featuring Sister Mary Helen, an elderly nun as the heroine (hmmm…). Most were located in San Francisco, which I imagine she knew as well as her protagonist's life style. O'Marie passed away in 2009. This is the seventh Sister Mary Helen novel.

Gillian Linscott: Gillian Linscott, aka Caro Peacock, is a former British journalist and radio correspondent who made the plunge into full time mystery writer in 1984 at the age of 40. Since then, she has published 18 novels, including two series, featuring Birdie Linnett (3) and Nell Bray (11). Her most recent work was published in 2003. Dead Man's Sweetheart is the sixth Nell Bray novel and has also been published under the title Dead Man's Music.
