VG* Jacket condition: No dust jacket. ND* Contents condition: PRIVATE COPY NOT EX-LIBRARY. Clean, crisp, tight and bright with no reading wear, no marks to text, ffep very lightly creased. Slightly grubby to all edges, otherwise no visible faults. VG+.* Illustrations: None.* Pages: 970 pp. text (alphabetical). i pp. blank at rear.* Description: Contains a Publisher?s letter regarding the correction of an error sent by John Buchanan-Brown, in 1970. One of the most famous reference works in the English language, the first edition was published in 1870, the book was a huge success, providing information often not included in more traditional dictionaries and encyclopaedias. A revised and updated edition was published in 1896, shortly before Brewer died. Since then, it has been continually revised and reprinted, often in facsimile, with only small scale changes to the content.* A NEAR FINE text copy of the 10th edn. with some minor faults but no dust jacket.*
