Dark tan cloth hardbound boards have black text and an illustration in black on the front cover, of which they are in good condition with very limited wear except light rubbing to the bottom of front board and two small blemishes to the rear board. Corners are sharp with slight wear to each corner. Spine is straight and firm with black text that is bright with no fading, slight curl to the top and bottom of the back strip and a small wear tear to the top. Hinges are firmly attached to the endpapers with no cracking. Text block is solid, and all pages are firmly attached but with two smudges to the bottom of block. Slight age tanning throughout. The interior pages are clean with no tears, chips, creases, or previous owner marks.
Emmett A. Rice, A.M. taught at Normal College of American Gymnastic Union, the oldest U.S. college of physical education, established in 1866. Rice divides this very readable text book into two sections: Part I -Europe and the Orient and Part II - In America. Richly illustrated with black and white illustrations and photographs.
