Original buckram, in illustrated slip-case, map and facsimile endpapers; pp. xxi, 512; xx, 534, numerous colour-printed fold-out maps; minimal fading and rubbing to slip-case, otherwise as new. First edition of THE work on the subject, written by an active participant in the Korean War and POW of the Chinese (escaping six times). He later researched and wrote on military history. 'The British Part in the Korean War stood as his magnum opus as a historian. The work constituted an attempt to 'comprehend the political as well as the military aspects of participation' (1.viii) and was therefore broader in scope than his earlier works' (ODNB).
