About This Item

From back cover: "This journal records the Civil War experiences of a sensitive, well-educated, young southern woman. Kate Stone was twenty when the war began, living with her widowed mother, five brothers, and younger sister at Brokenburn, their plantation home in north-eastern Louisiana." In her journals, she reveals a way of life that is no more: books read, plantation management, maintaining slaves, and more.

Very Good condition. Very light rubbing/bumping to covers, very minimal edge/corner wear. A couple spots on closed book page edges, but otherwise clean and tight. Please see photos.

400 pages including Index.
