Frame: 7 x 8 ¾ in. Photo is good condition; bright and clear image, but some rippling from mounting. Mat is dirty and has soiling in lower right corner and water damage to upper left. Image of ten WSPU suffragists marching down a city street filled men and women watching the demonstration. The rightmost marcher carries a tri-color flag of the group's signature colors-purple, green, and white. The nine women who follow her wear sandwich board signs that call for women's suffrage and make statements like the second marcher's sign: "The Cabinet is to Blame for Militancy". Beginning around 1905, the WSPU was known for their militant attitudes towards women's suffrage, and this photo shows the bold spirt of these women fighting for their rights.
