About This Item

New York: Viking, 1986. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very good. 582pp. Large octavo [24 cm] 1/4 black cloth spine with black paper covered boards, and the title stamped in copper on the spine. Map endsheets. Remainder mark to foot of the text block. The rear board is a little warped and the edges of the boards are subtly faded. In the dust jacket, with rubbing to the surface, and two small tears to the edges, backed with tape. Reisner's seminal work on water use in the American West is even more relevant and compelling today, when the Colorado River no longer reaches the ocean, and crucial water supplies like groundwater are both dwindling and mostly unregulated.
