Lead story, Call of the Wild is set in the Klondike Gold Rush, as was White Fang. Depiction of individualistic struggles, primitive violence & brutal social behavior of both men & animals. The story of how Buck, a huge, 4 year-old half-Saint Bernard & half-Scottish shepherd dog, living a life of ease in CA's Santa Clara Valley is transported to the wild open North, survives hardships & ultimately joins a pack of wolves, and, as legend has it, sires a new breed of wild dogs.

Synopsis

Jack London (1876–1916) published an enormous number of stories and novels, including The Call of the Wild , White Fang , and Martin Eden .
