London: The Folio Society, 1976. 1st Edition . Very Good Plus/Good. 6 x 9.25 inches (15 x 23.5 cm). Signed by Author. Slipcase: Rubbing and wear to edges. Some marking to one side panel. Overall case condition is Good Plus. Book: First Folio Society edition of Walpole's classic work, the first Gothic novel. Quarter black buckram binding with marbled paper covered boards. Gilt spine, green dyed top page edge. Light marking to the cloth on the front board, otherwise in excellent condition throughout. The introduction was written by Gothic literature expert Devendra Varma, author of 'The Gothic Flame'. Gift inscription from Varma to leading blank: 'For Mr. J. Beckwith with kind regards from D.P. Varma, 7 Dec. 76.'. Overall book condition is Very Good Plus. Size: 6 x 9.25 inches (15 x 23.5 cm). Hardback. Printed pages: 142
