The victim is a middle-aged woman, and on examination, it becomes clear that she has been killed execution style. The only thing linking the victim to the killer is a necklace with a rare, valuable stone. While the local police are eager to solve the crime, Dr. Banks is determined to find the real killer. She is aided in her investigation by the victim's husband, who is struggling to come to terms with his wife's death. As Dr. Banks pieces together the victim's life, she begins to suspect that the necklace may have been the key to her death.
