About This Item

Boston: Small, Maynard & Company, 1912. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good binding. A mildly ex-library copy, with a paper label to the spine, and a checkout slip from the Olean Public Library on the rear pastedown. An interesting and worthwhile book, with much on the postal service (Parker was a superintendent of the mails for the Army of the Potomac) and even an encounter with Elizabeth Van Lew in Richmond. Bud Robertson says of this book "Capt. Parker['s] memoirs neglect battles but reveal much on the outstanding Federal figures [Nevins I, 142]. This copy from Robertson's personal collection with his bookplate on the pastedown (over the Olean Library plate). Very Good binding.
