[New York & Hartford, CT]: Equitable Life Assurance Society, Osborn & Betancourt, P.B. Donovan Real Estate & Insurance Agency; Gray Lithograph Co., [1897]. 4to. 8.25 x 11.25 in. [6 pp (unpaginated).] printed on thick paper stock, accordion-style which extends out to 25 x 11.25 in, three raised & embossed colour chromolithograph plates w/ calendars & lettering in blue & gilt (minor edgewear, very minor rubbing to hinges, minor lifting & offsetting on 1 plate), still VG bright copy. First edition of this finely printed Victorian chromolithograph calendar for the famed Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States during the Gilded Age. Incorporated in 1859, the Equitable Life Assurance society was known for decades as one of the largest life insurance companies in the country, and maintained a vast sales force. These independent agents actively cultivated clients, and advertised heavily through calendars, greeting cards, brochures, and other printed mediums.
