London: Macmillan and Co., Limited. Very Good with no dust jacket. 1907. Hardcover. A 1907 reprint of the 1902 second edition. A detailed analysis of Alfred, Lord Tennyson's poem, originally titled "In Memoriam A. H. H. Obiit MDCCCXXXIII." The poem was written to commemorate the passing of the author's close friend Arthur Henry Hallam who suffered a cerebral hemorrhage at age 22. The poem is considered to be one of the greatest poems of the 19th century. It includes the famous lines, " 'Tis better to have loved and lost / Than never to have loved at all. " --- In olive cloth-covered boards with gilt-stamped spine titling. Volume has no dust jacket. --- With prior owners' signature & bookplate affixed to front paste-down, acidic stains to front & rear endpapers, and with a few scattered pencilings inside the book, otherwise a sound, tightly-bound, clean copy.; Small Octavo - 7-1/2 to 8 in. tall; xvii, 243 pages .
