About This Item
New York: The Bancroft Company Three blue cloth hardcover volumes with pastedowns with titles on spines are in good condition except for some cracking inside binding hinges leaving threads of binding exposed. There is no date; circa 1905. More detail description below. These three volumes appear to have been published separately from the 39 volume set The Works of Hubert Howe Bancroft. In that 39 volume set, six were on the history of Mexico. The subtitle on these three volumes refer to the time period covered by volumes 9, 10, and 11. Volume I has front hinge just starting to crack, inside back cover more severely cracked with slight separation of board bottom half of back cover. Text block firmly intact. Corners of book are bumped, some rubbing and light soil, front cover has minor crease. 702 pages with preface and authorities quoted an additional 112 pages. Includes a foldout map of the New Spain of 1521. Contents indicate this volume covers 1516 - 1521. Volume II has long crack in front hinge more than one-half with slightly shaky front cover, inside back cover is just slightly cracked. Bumped corners and minor wear to binding. 790 pages with 14 pages of contents and a foldout map of New Spain during the Sixteenth Century. Covers 1521-1600. Volume III is near very good with good hinges, minimal wear to covers. 780 pages with 15 pages covering title page through contents. Period covered is 1601-1800. This volume does not have a foldout map but several smaller ones throughout text. Price for this three volume set includes US shipping and insurance. International shipping rate will be higher.. Illus. by Illustrated with Maps. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket.
