London: Macmillan and Co., Limited, 1907. New Edition . Hardcover. Good. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Thomson, Hugh. Highly decorative edition with lots of coloured illustrations by Hugh Thomson. First reprinted in colour in 1898, this is the New Edition of 1907. Slightly larger format than Macmillan's first edition with Hugh Thomson illustrations which was published in 1891 as part of a series that became known as 'The Cranford Series'. Blue cloth with elaborate gilt decoration to upper board and spine. All edges gilt. A lovely bright copy with minor marking, rubbing to edges, and slight fraying to spine tips. Forward lean. Light dust-soiling and minor wear to page edges. Internally good with minor spotting, heavier to front and back matter. Sewn binding. Guttering cracked in a couple of places but text block firm and unthreatened by this. xxx, 297 pp + 2 pages publisher's ads. Plain endpapers. Tissue-guarded frontispiece and many more charming illustrations by Hugh Thomson. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. All orders professionally packed, tracked and/or signed for, and insured.
