Borgerhoff 12mo size green clothbound hardcover with black titles and decoration on front cover and black titles on spine; 203 pages; glossy black and white frontispiece of the author D.C. Heath; Boston; 1922 From the Introduction: "Of (Anatole) France's love for his native city and its beautiful river, the reader finds ample evidence in his works, and it was hardly necessary for him to tell us: 'I am a Parisian with all my soul and with all my flesh... Of Paris I know every pavement and adore every stone.' His best known works (include): 1881 Le Crime de Sylvestre Bonnard, which made Anatole France's name popular in his country." Born in 1844, Anatole France was a poet, journalist and novelist. He was the winner of the 1921 Pulitzer Prize. He died in 1924. The Crime of Sylvestre Bonnard was his first novel. The text is in French with Exercises, Notes and Vocabulary in French and English. Edgewear, worn bottom front corner, bumped corners and head and heel of spine, small bump to bottom of book, name and address inside front cover, toned pages, pencilled number inside back cover, stray pencil mark on fep, ink fingermark on page 16. We noted penciled notes on pages 83 and 84. Pages up to 32 have very light creases. Family historians: the name in the book is Virginia Duehring or Duchring . Cloth. Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
