A detailed examination of the military career of General George Armstrong Custer (1839-1876). In this work, author Edgar I. Stewart details Custer's Civil War record and subsequent Indian Wars actions, culminating with his demise at the Battle of the Little Bighorn. With a couple of fold-out maps and black & white photos on plates scattered through the volume. --- In olive cloth-covered boards with gilt-stamped titling on maroon spine block; maroon topstain. Jacket features color reproduction of Jahn Hauser's "The Challenge" to front panel. --- An excellent copy: clean, tightly-bound and unmarked, though with acidic stains to front endpapers. Unclipped dust jacket with sunned spine and a few small tears & chips, else intact and wrapped in removable mylar protector.; Tall Octavo - 9 to 10 in. tall; xvi, 522 pages .
