About This Item
New York: The Macmillan Company, 1946. Uncorrected Proof. Very good/Good. A mystery, here in a pre-publication state of unbound gatherings (printed pages assembled for binding). In a dust jacket printed with four different prices (perhaps they hadn't decided yet how much to charge?). First printing sheets (stated), stamped with the publication date on the title page and laid into a trial dust jacket. The jacket is split at the spine and heavily reinforced with tape on the back (verso).
