Many illustrations within the text. Offprint from Palaeontographica. Signed presentation copy from the author. Bumping to lower tip. Prior owner stamp and edgewear, especially along spine, to covers. Inscription and signature from author and prior owner stamp to title page. Otherwise, a very good copy - clean, bright and unmarked. Note that this is an oversized book, so additional postage will be required for international or priority orders. ~SSS~ The author, Dr. Oldrich Fejfar (b. 1931), is a leading personality in Czech vertebrate paleontology, one of Europe's foremost specialists in the Neogene and Quaternary mammals and a founder of the contemporary concept of the late Cenozoic vertebrate biostratigraphy. Association copy: The prior owner, Craig C. Black (1932-1998), was a respected vertebrate paleontologist and professor who served as Curator and later Director of Carnegie Museum of National History, and from 1982 until his retirement in 1994, Director of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County.
