About This Item

Tokyo: The Japan Times, Ltd, 1969. x, 445p., first edition cloth boards gilt; mildly edgeworn with an eighth-inch tear at the head, back cover has a light corner crease, lacks the dust jacket. Good copy. Author would like to argue more forcefully that Japan's role in WWII was defensive, but concedes it would not fly. Construction company mogul (he resurfaced the Atsugi airbase where CIA kept their U2) long interested in European philosophy, diplomacy, and investments. A much- selfpublished fellow; last page or so of this tome lists his kids' names and how well they are doing (all college grads, all officers of the construction company, one or two went into or married into politics).
