At the end of the nineteenth century in China, amateur fossil hunters knew that a ready supply of fossils could be found in Chinese backstreets sold as dragon bones to be ground down to be made into powerful medicines. When the sources of these fossils were tracked down sites rich with fossil remains were found including the ancestors of mankind - one of the most famous humanoid fossils of all time - Peking Man. 198 pages with 8 pages of colour photographs and black and white illustrations in the text. Book and dust jacket in very good+ condition with previous owners stamp on front endpaper.
