About This Item

Adelaide: E.S. Wigg & Son, and London, Sampson Low, Marston, Searle, & Rivington, 1884. Hardcover. Very Good. Adelaide, E.S. Wigg & Son, and London, Sampson Low, Marston, Searle, & Rivington, 1884 [first thus]. Octavo, xvi, 416 pages plus 4 plates. Brown cloth; front cover blocked in black; spine lettered in gilt; covers slightly marked and rubbed, with some very slight wear at the extremities; front hinge cracking but sound; ownership signature on the front pastedown; one opening tanned from an old acidic insert; a very good copy. 'Publishers' Note: The first edition of this work was privately printed by the author for circulation in South Australia only. This new and enlarged second edition may therefore be regarded virtually as a new work'. Indeed it is; the 1878 publication, 'Early Experiences of Colonial Life in South Australia', contains reminiscences of the period 1836 to 1842 (and in far greater detail than in this rewritten 1884 edition).
