"Scenes from a Life" -- specifically, the childhood and early life of this distinguished actress, in which she tells of her "warm but trying family life" in rural Pennsylvania and Brooklyn, and how her 12-year-old "movie-mad" and stage-struck self had her showbiz career launched by winning a talent contest at a Brooklyn theatre.
