About This Item
Wiesbaden: Guido Pressler. Good with no dust jacket. 1966. Hardcover. KB19...185 pp. Index, bibliography. Small quarto. The first 126 pages are a beautiful fascimile of the 1472 Nurnberg edition, complete with stunning illuminated initials in colours. 1472 text in German, modern text in German, as well. Very handsome natural linen covers with cream cloth spine. Minor wear to covers, interior clean and unmarked, inside back cover has some light pencil notes that look like price paid when first bought in 1967. Book by the German early humanist Albrecht von Eyb (1420-1475) is probably the most prominent of a genre of German-language literature that formed around the end of the 15th century and then became very popular in the 16th century, dealing with questions of marriage. "The German work treats of the joys and sorrows of married life and general maxims of a moral or philosophical character are added. A decision is finally rendered in favour of the married state." ; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 185 pages .
