About This Item

Alhambra CA: El Molino Mills, 1953. Hardcover. Unpaginated, numbered recipes on perhaps ninety pages, 3 or 4 to a page (numbers run up to 908, but many numbers are skipped), small loose-leaf binder in 7x5 inch decorated boards featuring a quick-release metal fastener. Extremities of covers are worn with a nick to upper margin, card shows all along the joints but probably not from use, merely poor storage, as there's no damage or soiling within. The metal thingie works perfectly. A good to very good copy. Find products made from carob, soya and seeds as well as more familiar flours, and recipes dabble in Mexican and "oriental" cuisines. Natural food notions were just reaching the general public in this period; amongst terminal-leaf book recommendations is Adelle Davis' "Let's Cook It Right." Davis was amongst the preeminent nutritionists of the transformative sixties.
