About This Item

4.25" x 6.75" cabinet card photo of a woman reading a letter. It is signed on the verso, "Yours very faithfully, Florence L. Barclay." The photo is credited to Emberson, London.

Barclay (1862-1921) was an English author, who took up writing when she was bedridden in her 40s. She wrote 11 books in all, and one was made into a silent movie.

Along the left edge are remnants of a paper that once protected the photo, and there is some light surface wear.
