Burgundy boards with gold writing on spine; publisher's emblem with 1817 embossed on front cover. Top and bottom of book spine slightly rumpled; page edges slightly yellowed. Front dust jacket has less then 1/4-inch tear at top and chip near bottom edge where it meets dust jacket spine; top and bottom of dust jacket spine has very minor chips and folds. Price of $6.95 on front dust jacket flap.
Harper & Row First Edition, Second Printing as indicated by number line of "71 72 73 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2" on colophon (last page) of book. No other printings or editions listed on copyright page.
Blatty's classic horror novel that has withstood the test of time and garnered numerous movies and sequels based on it. Second printing in great shape for its age and hard to find in this condition. Hardcover and original unclipped dust jacket protected by archival Mylar cover.
Synopsis
The Exorcist is a horror novel written by William Peter Blatty. It is based on a 1949 exorcism Blatty heard about while he was a student in the class of 1950 at Georgetown University, a Jesuit and Catholic school. The exorcism was purportedly performed in Mount Rainier, Maryland.
