London: J. & R. Tonson, 1766. Full-Leather. Good+. Eighth Edition, carefully revised and improved, 1766. Frontis illus. of Aesop, sitting by a tree, writing, surrounded by animals. Each of the 196 Fables has an engraved vignette illustration. There are also some decorative headers. Contemporary Brown Full-Leather Binding with 5 raised bands to spine. Dedication ( 6 pages ), Preface ( 14 pages ), Table of Contents ( 12 pages ). Main Text, 329 pages + Index ( 7 pages ). 6 3/4" Tall, 300g. A few small area's of leather missing from front cover. Penciled Bookseller note on ffep. Previous owner's inscription on title page (see photo) and penciled date by the roman numerals at bottom of title page. Frontis has Aesop's flesh coloured in and 2 vignettes have a band of colour around the illustrations. No other inscriptions. Size: 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall
