About This Item

Kranz, Gene. Failure Is Not An Option. Mission Control From Mercury to Apollo 13 and Beyond. New York: Simon & Schuster. 2000. First edition, first issue. Hardcover in pictorial dust jacket. Illustrated. Index. 415 [3] pp. Near fine in near fine dust jacket.

Signed by Kranz and five other flight directors: Chris Kraft, Glynn Lunney, Milton Windler, Pete Frank and Gerry Griffin on 4/24/2000. Kraft and Frank are now deceased. Kranz served as NASA's second Chief Flight Director, directing missions of the Gemini and Apollo programs, including the first lunar landing mission, Apollo 11. He is best known for directing the successful efforts by the Mission Control team to save the crew of Apollo 13 and bring them safely back to earth. Very scarce signed by these flight directors who are all discussed in the book. This is gift quality for the Space flight enthusiast.
