About This Item
London: Robert Hale, 1973. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good -. The interior of the book is crisp and clean. There are two signatures by former owners on the front free end paper, but no other marks or wear. The blue covers are fresh, with minor wear at tips and corners. The gilt spine lettering is still bright. The dust jacket is in slightly less than very good conditon, with light wear. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. Synopsis: When Andrea Barclay, a young widow, goes to Paris she meeets and falls in love with Christopher Laroque, a member of the French government. She does it in her usual impulsive way: immediately. Just more than a year earlier, however, she had met and fallen in love with handsome and charming Ross Miller: she met him one night and married him the next day. Ross had promised Andrea, her aunt and her mother that he would love and take care of her always but there were things in the life of the man she had married that brought in their wake tragedy, scandal and fear. Christopher loves Andrea, but she is afraid of her past. Sitting in his car on a side road between Paris and Orleans, she tells him everything, sparing neither herself or others in the telling, and wondering with each word whether in the end he will send her away.
