The dust jacket is in excellent condition, because it was -- and still is -- enclosed in the "Plasti-Kleer" cover used by Avalon for all of their books. A fresh, bright copy.

There is no date given, but this is one of the "Newnes Sixpenny" series, which looks like an offprint of a story originally published in the Strand magazine. The interior of the book is tight and complete, but the paper has yellowed badly, and the first few pages have a watermark on the edge. The text of the story is preceded and followed by a few pages of advertisement. The rather unattractive black and brown covers are in decent condition, with moderate wear and one sticker pull on the front panel. An interesting little item.

Patrick Duffy is listed as the director. This is a 51 leaf document, on 8.5 x 11 paper, with yellow light card covers, all held together by metal clips. The interior is clean and fresh, with just a few signs of wear. There are two changes made on page 32 -- Scene 27 has been x'd out, and the time notation of 1:00 added beside scene 29. (Thomas William) Fyles, and has his signature and date (Montreal 1862) on the front free end paper. Fyles was a Church of England clergyman, as well as a noted entomologist and writer. The interior is clean and tight. The paper has darkened and shows light reading use, but no marks or damage. There is a small bookbinder's stamp (Dawson Brothers, Montreal) in the top corner of the front free end paper. The book covers (Marbled paper and leather) are shabby, wtih rubs and wear to all edges. A tidy little copy.
