About This Item
London: George Allen & Unwin LTD, 1933. The Capek brothers have retained their fame as important modernists in both art and literature, with the famous play "R.U.R." and "War with the Newts." First published in 1932; this is a Very Good copy of the First English Edition. Not common. Yellow cloth binding with blue titling on the spine and front cover. Clean text; 288 pages. Contains ten tales, with numerous illustrations by Joseph. Light soil and very mild bumps; the major defect is the removal, although very cleanly, of the first free endpaper. The dustwrapper shows wear, with a darkened spine and several chips, with a rather large one at the foot of the spine. In an archival plastic protector.. First UK Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good (Minus). Illus. by Joseph Capek. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
