First edition. 8vo; 457, [1]pp; navy cloth over board, blind stamped borders, gilt title to front and spine; pictorial endpapers of a lighthouse and sailboat in a storm; 2 gift inscriptions to ffep; color frontispiece; illustrated plates both in color and b&w; 10 ¼" x 17" folded laid-in illustration in navy and green "United States Coast Guard Boston District", from a painting by Larry O'Toole; scuffing to boards, glue burns to pastedowns, light age-toning of paper, small split at fold on laid-in illustration; very good.
