This lovely little book recounts the history of Jacques Prévert's melancholy French poem written in 1946 and how it evolved from the original poem to a French song and ultimately to the English version of the lyrics that became the most important jazz standard, recorded about 1400 times. The original French poem, its English translation, and the lyrics to the jazz standard. Bound in light gray paper wrappers and printed on hand made Khadi paper using Bembo, Fairbank, and Weiss types. There are two images of leaves that were cut and printed by Helen Moss. The types were set and printed by Graham Moss. Inserted are small papery brown leaves. Housed in a white paper folder with the titles and poet on the front cover. In fine condition. Octavo. Unpaginated [ 7 pages + colophon]. PRI/012924.
