A very good copy in original red velvet over green cloth; separate box of facsimiles; in publisher's slipcase (spine has minor wear to top and bottom; bookplate to endpaper; gold foil slipcase has some spotting and wear). xxi, [1], 465, [1] pages. 'Containing complete librettos of the fourteen operas, exactly as presented at their premiere performances; together with facsimiles of the first-night programmes' (title page). Notable also for the reproductions of contemporary illustrations (with a few periodical cuttings) accompanying the texts, in addition to the facsimile programs (in a separate two-part box). Foreword by Bridget D'Oyly Carte; editor's prologue, acknowledgments and commentaries, plus bibliographical references (list of sources, at rear). Designed by Eugene Ettenberg and printed under his supervision at The Gallery Press, New York. Over 100 b/w Illustrations; Title Page (brown/black).
