François-Louis Schmied (November 8, 1873, in Geneva – January 1941], was a French painter, wood engraver, printer, editor, illustrator, and bookbinder of Swiss origin. François-Louis Schmied established himself in France, where he was later naturalized, and ultimately was exiled in Morocco around 1931 or 1932. He is considered a major artist in the Art Deco style, particularly in the area of publishing for bibliophiles. He is the father of engraver Théo Schmied, who directed François-Louis Schmied's workshop beginning in 1924. [Wikipedia]
Harry "Ward" Ritchie (June 15, 1905 – January 24, 1996) was an American printer, book designer, book collector and writer of around 100 books. He was part of the "Golden Age" of fine printing that took place during the 1920s and 1930s in Southern California. Ritchie was also part of the Artists of the Arroyo Seco community. [Wikipedia]

About Pages For Sages

Pages For Sages has been in the business of buying and selling rare and used books, ephemera, and other unusual items for over forty years. We have long depended on book fairs, printed catalogs, auctions, and the like to support the business. Now, in our later years (ages 90 and 92) we are taking this step to display a catalog of inventory on the Biblio web site for your consideration. The number of our listings will grow as we continue the process of adding items from our inventory - please come back from time to time to find additional offerings.
